2024 Property Maintenance Program

In 2024, Focus Area 3, which is located predominately south of the St. Joseph River, west of Main Street to Lake Michigan, and north of Old Lakeshore Drive, is being inspected.  This area was last inspected in 2017.  Announcement letters are sent to the property owners in early February with the exterior property inspections from the public right-of-way taking place during February, March and, April.  Beginning May 1st, Correction Notices are sent to property owners that did not pass the inspection.

If a Correction Notice is issued for the property the owner/agent will have until September 20, 2024 to complete the required repairs. An appeal process is available if more time is believed necessary to make repairs or to contest the determination. If your property ‘passed’ the inspection you will not receive a formal follow-up letter but feel free to call to confirm.

The Property Maintenance Board of Appeals is responsible for hearing all appeals associated with the program.
