Downtown Development Authority

About

The Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Board was created within Chapter 10 of the Code of Ordinance under Public Act 197 of 1975, which now falls under PA 57 of 2018,  with responsibilities that include:

  1. Promoting the economic growth of the city’s downtown business district;
  2. Recommending changes to established boundaries;
  3. Making recommendations of and for projects associated with the Downtown Vision Master Plan; and
  4. Overseeing the general maintenance along with the seasonal plantings and decorations within the DDA boundaries

Meetings

The DDA meets on the first Monday of each month at 8:30 a.m. in the City Commission Chambers, City Hall, 700 Broad St.

Membership

The DDA is made up of nine members that are appointed by the City Commission. Members serve a four-year term.  A majority of the members must be associated with the DDA boundaries as a property owner, business owner, or employee, and at least one member must reside within the DDA.  The remaining members must be residents of the City.
