Anchors Way High Water Infrastructure (HWI) Grant Project
Anchors Way High Water Infrastructure (HWI) Grant Project
Flooding on Anchors Way has been an ongoing problem and the City has been investigating different options to resolve it in a cost effective manner. In November 2022, the City, with the assistance of Wade Trim, applied for a High-Water Infrastructure Grant from the State of Michigan. In July 2023, we were informed that the application was selected for funding, and a grant of $144,800 was awarded August 2023. Since that time, the team has been in the process of analyzing the frequency of the flooding, and looking at possible alternatives and potential solutions that would reduce the impact and severity of the flooding on the users of, and property owners along Anchors Way.
A public meeting was held on July 31, 2024 to discuss several alternatives being considered and to gather public input on them, the video to the presentation is available at the following link: https://youtu.be/9-dNdBMY-Wk The power point from the meeting is also available at the the link below.
The project team recommended, and the City Commission approved the selected alternative that involves a combination of raising a section of Anchors Way and installing a lift station to pump the water off the right of way during periods of high Lake Michigan levels. The selected alternative requires an increased scope of design services that is described in the October 28, 2024 power point below.
