Hiring: Building Inspector
The City of St. Joseph is seeking a Building Inspector to perform a variety of routine and technical tasks related to enforcing building and related codes. This role involves examining construction plans and conducting on-site inspections to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances, thereby protecting public health, safety, welfare, and property. Additional related duties may be assigned as needed.
This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with a starting salary of $65,000–$85,000 DOQ (Depending on Qualifications). In addition to a competitive salary, the City offers a generous benefits package, including a defined benefit retirement plan.
Requirements:
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation.
- Building Inspector Registration/Building Official Registration with Plan Review under the State of Michigan Skilled Trades Act 407, OR the ability to obtain registration within the state's provisional timeframe (see job description).
- Seven years of experience in general building construction (see job description).
- ICC Certification as a Building Inspector and Plans Examiner is preferred.
