The Parks Department maintains all City parks and facilities and is responsible for:
- Cleaning of all restroom facilities daily
- Picking up trash in all of the Parks and Beaches daily
- Mowing of all City owned property weekly
- Maintenance of City buildings and property as needed
- Service of equipment, refurbish picnic tables, plow sidewalks and snow removal
Summer Recreation Program starts the middle of June each year and lasts
approximately 7 weeks.
Children 5 years and older are welcome to participate in the summer program at no
cost for City residents and $140.00 per child (maximum $200 per family) for non-City
residents. Tennis lessons are available at the Stubblefield Tennis Courts for a
fee ($40/child for City residents, $80/child for non-residents) and a variety of
activities such as arts and crafts, soccer, archery, basketball, golf, volleyball
and much much more, are available at the John and Dede Howard Ice Arena at Whittlesey Park.
Flyers regarding the program are distributed
throughout the St. Joseph Public Schools at the end of the school year
and are also available at the City Clerk's Office the first week of
